Going to the airport is the one trip where lateness has a real price. The pickup time you choose is the time the driver comes, so it is worth working it out rather than guessing. For arrivals the logic is different; see what to do when a flight is delayed.
Work backwards from the flight
- Start with the departure time on your ticket.
- Subtract the time you want to be at the airport. Many airlines advise about two hours before a domestic flight and three before an international one. Check your airline, because check-in counters usually close 40 to 60 minutes before departure.
- Subtract the drive. From Hoi An to Da Nang Airport it is typically about 45 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic and where in town you start.
- Subtract a buffer of 15 to 30 minutes for loading bags, traffic and a slow check-out.
- The result is the pickup time to enter in the booking.
| Flight | At the airport by | Drive plus buffer | Pickup time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Domestic, departs 14:00 | 12:00 | about 1 h 15 min to 1 h 30 min | about 10:30 |
| International, departs 20:00 | 17:00 | about 1 h 15 min to 1 h 30 min | about 15:30 |
These are examples, not rules. Use your airline’s advice and your own comfort with queues.
Early flights and tight check-outs
- For a flight before 08:00 the pickup may be before dawn. Settle the hotel bill the evening before and ask about an early breakfast or a breakfast box.
- Make sure someone will be at reception at that hour to take your key.
- Ask where the car will wait. Parts of the Ancient Town restrict vehicles at certain hours, so the car may meet you at the nearest access point. Enter the exact hotel name when you book and say in the notes where you would like to be met.
Pick the right terminal
Da Nang Airport has Terminal 1 for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights, joined by a covered walkway. Give the driver your airline and flight number so you are dropped at the right one.
If your flight time changes
For a trip to the airport, the time you choose is the time the driver comes; it does not move with the flight status. If your flight is retimed, tell RideVie with your booking code as early as possible (the Contact page lists the channels that are currently active), or change the pickup time in your account if that option is open to you.
